Diabetes Symptoms
The primary causes of diabetes are effects from genetic and environmental factors. At the onset of this syndrome a number of symptoms are noticeable which not only help a person in diagnosing himself/herself but also pave the way for effective medication. It is also essential to note here that early diagnosis of this syndrome helps by reducing the chances of future complications.
One of the most easily noted symptoms is excessive urination. Frequent urination at night should be a major cause of concern as it clearly points to the possibility of a person having diabetes. Other symptoms include excessive hunger and thirst. Due to the body’s inability to breakdown the ingested sugars, a person feels hungry and thirsty, as the body requires the essential amounts of sugars.
Since the body is not capable of utilizing the sugars, unusual weight loss is another characteristic symptom of diabetes. This is also linked to another major symptom – frequent tiredness. In the absence of the required sugars, the body is unable to supply the energy required by the person. As sugars form an essential energy supplier to the body, in their absence the person feels tired and fatigued. When the body is not able to provide the required amounts of energy to the various muscles, the person frequently acquires muscle cramps which are caused by excessive muscle fatigue. This might also lead to numbness of the extremities.
Diabetes also reduces the person’s ability to heal. Consequently a person’s wounds may take a long time to repair. Dry and itchy skin is another symptom associated with diabetes. This might be accompanied by frequent skin infections as the body’s ability to heal diminishes. If a person complains of these symptoms then it is essential for him/her to visit a doctor and attain proper medical advice regarding the same.
